Why do it?
“To walk and cycle across Britain & be part of this historic landscape”
3 days (2 days cycling and 1 day walking) within a 4 day event.
Weather conditions enable this course to run from May to October. (Please book as soon as possible to arrange the date you want).
Guiding will be by qualified mountain leaders with 1 guide to 8 participants. Leaders have many years experience of leading across UK terrain and will add substantially to your experience. Groups of 8+ can arrange a bespoke trip.
Day 1 = Meet late afternoon or evening at the accommodation. Briefing with trip leader and guides.
Day 2 = Transfer to start of event at Bowness-on-Solway. Cycle along Hadrian’s Wall Cycleway; taking in the Solway Firth, Carlisle, Brampton, Lanercost Priory and Gilsland to Greenhead (approx 40 miles). Transfer to accommodation.
Day 3 = Transfer to Greenhead for walking section. Walk along the most spectacular section of Hadrian’s Wall, from Greenhead to Brocolitia. Approx 15 miles.
Day 4 = Transfer back to Brocolitia, with bike. Cycle through Hexham, Ovingham, and Newcastle to Wallsend (approx 45 miles). End of event and transfer to Newcastle station to return home.

What’s Not Included:
To do this trip you need to have a certain level of fitness. No previous experience is required however the fitter you are the more you will enjoy the event. We recommend that you follow a fitness plan in preparation for your challenge, an example of one will be sent to you when you have confirmed your booking with our events partner
The cycling days cover 40-45 miles each day taking about 6-8 hours. There are a few steep hills on the route and you will be walking the steeper sections. The walking day covers about 15 miles of rugged terrain taking up to 7-8 hours.
This is a physical and open challenge. If you have any conditions that might affect you taking part, please consider this before making a booking. Contact us if you’d like to discuss your specific requirments.

You’ll receive a fitness plan devised by a fitness professional. This is only provided as a guide and you should seek professional advice before starting your own fitness regime. If possible please try the odd training walk before you arrive.The walk is suitable for most people. You need to be able to walk several hours a day whilst carrying a small backpack.
Financial Protection: the trip is protected in accordance with the 1992 Package Travel Regulations to protect against situations such as insolvency.

You’ll have a personal concierge who can make the booking or any arrangements for you. You can even ask us to find a new experience or location for an experience day you want to do.
