How Long Will it Last?

Spend as long as you like up to a full day. There’s a lot to explore including a 30 min planetarium show.

When Can I Go?

Open all year, except occasional Mondays, weekdays 10am to 4pm and weekends 10am to 5pm.

Tickets include all activities on the site except special events such as astonaut visits etc requiring additional tickets. There are reduced prices for groups of 15+, just contact us for details.

    • Blue Streak Rocket - first designed in the 1950s to be a missile and adapted in the 1960’s as a European satellite launch
    • See the first sci-fi movie ever made 
    • Blast off into space inside the Vostok Capsule
    • Pilot the “Eagle” onto the lunar surface. 
  • Moon Rock
    • With less than 1,000kg of Moon rock on earth, this artefact is one of the most precious items you will ever see.
    • Collected by Apollo 17 Astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, near the rim of Shorty Crater.
  • Learn about Life in Space
    • Walk through a mock up of the Columbus Module from the International Space Station
    • Discover how things work in space conditions e.g. using the toilet!
    • Explore the Soyuz capsule, an internationally significant artefact made by the Russian Space Agency in the 1960s

    • Hubble Deep Space Telescope
  • Experience Tranquillity Base - become a trainee astronaut on a lunar base in the year 2025 and journey to Jupiter’s icy moon Europa
    • Learn to moon walk and control a spaceship 
    • Journey in the only UK 3D Spaceflight induction Module. Seating up to 17 astronauts, you’ll take a white knuckle ride from the Earth’s moon, through meteorite showers and radiation clouds to the hair-raising ice canyon run on Europa. (1.2m height restriction)  
  • Orbiting the Earth - including satellite navigation, weather forecasting, emergency disaster warnings 
    • Enter the Weather Pod, watch the impact on the weather of an asteroid near to Earth

Who Can Do This?

All ages and under 5’s are free. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Is There Disabled Access?

The National Space Centre has full access for those in wheelchairs or with mobility issues and other special needs. Suitable for:

  • Hard of Hearing/Deaf (All videos with sound are subtitled and hearing loops are fitted throughout the centre)
  • Restricted - Arm 
  • Restricted - Leg (The whole building is accessible. Wheelchairs and stools are available for hire free of charge at the ticketing desk)
  • Visually Impaired (Touch tours can be arranged with prior booking & large print information is available upon request)

  • Boosters Cafe serve a selection of freshly made and locally sourced sandwiches and snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks and chef made fresh soup.
  • Special events are hosted throughout the year for couples, families and groups such as Astronaut visits, valentine and half term events, Return of the Garrison, Science of the Time Lords, World Gin Day.
  • All day parking £3
  • Help for disabilities
    • Disabled parking spaces available (parking charges apply)
    • The Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium has spaces for up to 6 wheelchairs
    • Wheelchairs are available on loan to visitors free of charge (subject to availability)

    • Touch tours are available with prior booking
    • An induction loop is fitted in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium
    • Most audio exhibits are subtitled
    • For those unable to access the SIM there is the opportunity to enjoy the show without entering the ride
